EMERGENCETEK GROUP-ETG (Postcard Design)

As an intern at SUNSPIN MEDIA, ETG (Emergencetek Group) had reached out for postcard design. My design was chosen by the company as their favorite to be printed for clients. My goal for this project to try and stay as close to brand as possible. After reviewing their website I broke down the main color pallets and used them in the new design. Blue seemingly the strongest, I made sure that was the main hue of the piece. Throughout, I used the other colors as illustrated elements seen in the branding to represent who ETG is. The client expressed that they wanted to use buildings seen downtown in the design. So I thought it best to incorporate the building the company was based out of.

Massive LAN Wayfinder

I had chosen Massive LAN as an event to explore way finder signage due to the lack of light the event has. I wanted be able to play with neon and designing for a gaming event gave me the perfect opportunity to due so. Attempting this with both a mono and poly chromatic color pallet allowed me to create illustrations and mockups that are catching to the eye. Since the intention of these signs are to lead the customer in the right direction I felt it necessary to both include images and text into the signage. By choosing related icons I hoped to steer patrons in the right direction.

Hotel Re-Brand BluuEye Resort & Suite

The approach for this assignment was to find a hotel or resort that failed to excel in modern branding standards. I had chosen a small resort on the coast of Bermuda. The original name of the resort was The Rosemont. The logo for the Rosemont was a pineapple incorporated with different scripts. I felt it appropriate to change the name to BluuEye Resort and Suite after the islands native blue-eye grass. I had incorporated its periwinkle like hue into petal like shapes on the logo. These shapes overlapped a yellow sun representing the sunny atmosphere that one could expect from their stay at the resort. A blue wave to represent the blue waters and recreational sports that’s guests can participate in during their stay. I created the logo-type with the intent of the top strokes of certain letters to peak into waves to give the resort title a very aquatic feel.

The basis of this assignment was to choose a pre-existing event and promote it. The event I had chosen was PunkinChunkin. This was an event where pumpkins would be loaded and launched out of canons, catapults, and trebuchets at a target. I had decided to give the event a mascot of sorts so I had named my event Hurling Jacks Pumpkin Launch Festival. Sticking to a bright orange and blue color pallet I had created a fun logo of a pumpkin flying past the moon. Since this was going to be an annual event I felt liberty to create a more complex logo that would be fun on patches, shirts, cups and bags.

The region of Western New York is filled with enchanting, little details that are a comforting blanket for its citizens. Grain silos that loom over harbors, the scent of cheerios on a work commute, and a Football team that never seems to quit. Under the blossoming pleasantness of food and festivals are hidden truths buried beneath weeds. Truths that are begging to be unearthed and most of which were forgotten by those within the city of good neighbors.

Ive been inspired to create a series of semi-realistic grunge styled posters representing different lores and stories buried deep around Buffalo and the Western New York area. Stories of Pig Man Road, High Hat, The Lockport Imp, the Incident of 1920 and more. Discovering a mystery that was always there has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. The works I have created here are an introduction of
Bewilderments that already exist.

The experience I want to evoke elicit from my posters is that of curiosity. My hope is that the viewer will be able to leave my show after seeing my work and have the itch to learn more. These posters give part of the story, but not all as I want to leave room to interpretation. The fun part about lore is that it changes after each person tells it. I have included access to the stories on the back of the take away document where you can scan a QR code. My hope that my work elicits a sense of curiosity in the viewer.
